Bubbles of nothing in binary black holes and black rings, and viceversa

چکیده
A bstract We argue that expanding bubbles of nothing are a widespread feature systems black holes with multiple or non-spherical horizons, appearing as limit regions narrowly enclosed by the horizons. The bubble is minimal cycle links Einstein-Rosen bridges in system, and its expansion occurs through familiar stretching space hole interiors. demonstrate this idea (which does not involve any Wick rotations) explicit constructions four five dimensions. geometries these dimensions arise of, respectively, static binaries rings. such separation between two holes, inner ring, becomes very small, horizons correspond to acceleration bubbles. also explain how five-dimensional binary gives rise different type bubble. then show spacetimes can host rings equilibrium, their gravitational attraction being balanced against background spacetime expansion. Similar expected six more dimensions, but most solutions be obtained only numerically. Finally, we Nariai solution regarded containing an circular nothing.

Black Holes, Black Rings and their Microstates
In this review article we describe some of the recent progress towards the construction and analysis of three-charge configurations in string theory and supergravity. We begin by describing the Born-Infeld construction of three-charge supertubes with two dipole charges, and then discuss the general method of constructing threecharge solutions in five dimensions. We explain in detail the use of ...
متن کاملSurface Geometry of 5D Black Holes and Black Rings
We discuss geometrical properties of the horizon surface of five-dimensional rotating black holes and black rings. Geometrical invariants characterizing these 3D geometries are calculated. We obtain a global embedding of the 5D rotating black horizon surface into a flat space. We also describe the Kaluza-Klein reduction of the black ring solution (along the direction of its rotation) which rela...
متن کاملEnergy Extraction from Higher Dimensional Black Holes and Black Rings
We analyze the energy extraction by the Penrose process in higher dimensions. Our result shows the efficiency of the process from higher dimensional black holes and black rings can be rather high compared with than that in four dimensional Kerr black hole. In particular, if one rotation parameter vanishes, the maximum efficiency becomes infinitely large because the angular momentum is not bound...
متن کاملOscillator Level for Black Holes and Black Rings
Microscopic calculations of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of supersymmetric black holes in string theory are typically based on the application to a dual 2D CFT of Cardy’s formula, S = 2π √ c q̂0/6, where c is the central charge and q̂0 is the oscillator level. In the CFT, q̂0 is non-trivially related to the total momentum. We identify a Komar integral that equals q̂0 when evaluated at the horizon...
متن کاملWhen Black Holes Meet Kaluza-Klein Bubbles
We explore the physical consequences of a recently discovered class of exact solutions to five dimensional Kaluza-Klein theory. We find a number of surprising features including: (1) In the presence of a Kaluza-Klein bubble, there are arbitrarily large black holes with topology S. (2) In the presence of a black hole or a black string, there are expanding bubbles (with de Sitter geometry) which ...
